What the National Weather Service recorded

A complex of severe thunderstorms moved west to east across southern Wisconsin and northern Illinois during the early morning hours of July23rd. Strong wind gusts from a wet microburst from one of the thunderstorms in Walworth County dropped trees onto homes and downed power lines in the vicinity of Lake Como and Lake Geneva.

Como (.65 W) Walworth Wind 58 mph wind A wet microburst from a severe thunderstorm produced wind gusts estimated up to 50 knots (58 mph) that dropped trees and downed power lines along the north and south shores of Lake Como to the northern shore of Lake Geneva. Trees ended up falling onto 6 homes, damaging shingles and siding. The dock at the Mars Resort on Lake Como was destroyed when a tree fell on the dock.
