Large scale forcing for ascent was provided by a vigorous mid-level short wave trough that moved from the northern Plains across northern Wisconsin during the evening of March 20th. A strong southerly low-level flow over an approaching surface warm front produced elevated thunderstorms over southern Wisconsin.
