What the National Weather Service recorded

A line of thunderstorms moved east across southern Wisconsin during the evening hours of May 28th. The storms produced large hail in southern Waukesha County. A surface low developed northeastward into the Upper Great Lakes along a warm front that was moving northward through the region. A broad southwesterly low-level jet brought increasingly moist boundary layer air into the region that impinged on the warm front, providing the forcing that triggered the line of thunderstorms.
