Roofing In Waterloo: Named After Napoleon’s Defeat, Home To A Global Bicycle Company

Waterloo got its name from a French settler who had fought at the Battle of Waterloo under Napoleon — on the losing side, which makes the choice a little bleak and quite memorable. It sits where Highways 89 and 19 cross in northwestern Jefferson County, 3,492 people at the 2020 count.

And it is the world headquarters of Trek Bicycle. One of the largest bicycle manufacturers on earth is run out of a town this size, alongside Van Holten Pickles, who have been selling pickles in a pouch since 1898. Perry Printing was the other big employer until it closed in 2007. The town celebrates Wiener and Kraut Day, holds a Fourth of July at Fireman’s Park, and has a carousel. Its motto is “Find Your Path Here.”

Here is why this page exists. After a regional storm, three and a half thousand people is a small enough number that the large roofing operations working this county concentrate on Watertown and Fort Atkinson and get to Waterloo late, or not at all. Permits

Do You Need A Roofing Permit In Waterloo?

No. The City of Waterloo publishes that a re-roof needs no permit: “When don’t I need a permit? 1. Re-roofing 2. Siding a structure 3. Replacing windows with new of the same size.” — City of Waterloo — Building Permits and Inspections. Siding is exempt on the same list, and same-size windows and doors too. We check the parcel before quoting, because a mailing address does not tell you which jurisdiction you are in.

No permit does not mean no rules: SPS 320.04(2) makes the work comply with the state code whether or not anyone inspects it.
